Catégorie voyageMy Exchange Students in Irland

Hello everybody, today I am going to talk about my experience as an Exchange Student. I arrived in Ireland on the 30th of August. After 1h30 of a bus journey, I finally met my host family. I was a little bit anxious because I was scared about the fact I couldn't communicate with them. Despite that, everything was alright and all of my doubts disappeared very quickly because even if I couldn't understand anything or speak coherently, the family were very friendly and welcoming.

My first week at school was very nice and I received my timetable. The schools here are very different from the education system in France. Indeed, the class started at 9 in the morning and finished at 4 in the afternoon. Usually, we have 40 minutes to eat and we can't go out during the break. Furthermore, we have to wear a uniform and the relationship between students and teachers is completely different from France. Here, the teacher is more like a friend (even if you have to respect him) contrary to France where there is like a hierarchy and formal. The subjects are also more diversified and the student can choose which one he continues in high school.

At school, I also met other Exchange Students (mostly from Germany and Italy) and became friends with most of them. Before the quarantine happened in October, we went usually outside, chill in the town (even if Cavan is a little town and there is not really a lot to do). We found a place to eat call "Cafe Mana". It's as you can guess, a small Café, at the entrance of Cavan. We usually go here each time we go to the town to speak while we eat. It's a very nice place and the food is good. I'm not here to say go here or here but if you want to eat in a nice Café with your friends, I can only advice you to go here.
